NedTrain strengthens World Class Maintenance Consortium
On 2 April 2008 representatives of NedTrain, Bosch Rexroth, Stork Asset Management Solutions, the University of Twente (in cooperation with the three Dutch Technical Universities) and the Dutch Defense Academy signed the World Class Maintenance Consortium cooperation agreement in the presence of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Maria van der Hoeven.
In March 2007 Essent, Gasunion, Logistic Centrum Woensdrecht, Schelde Shipbuilding and Wärtsilä launched the consortium that now unites the sectors of the process industry, infra, energy, maritime and aviation.
According to NedTrain director Leo van Dongen joining the WCMC is a logical step: “NedTrain ensures the highest possible availability and reliability of rolling stock against the lowest possible costs for numerous passenger and freight carriers. In the case of passenger transport on the Dutch main line maintenance costs are still a quarter of the total exploitation costs.”

The consortium has drawn up ambitious targets for the coming years: WCMC hopes to create new market opportunities for the Netherlands by combining know-how and strategy development. A second aim is the safe and sustainable reduction of maintenance costs in order to improve company performance. The spearhead of increasing the availability and safety of energy provisions and chemical installations in the Netherlands ensures that WCMC is also making a positive contribution to society in general.
